Tine takes silver in Embrunman

15 August 2019|News|

15/8/2019: Tine has finished second in the 2019 Embrunman, the "toughest triathlon in the world." Tine held the lead for most of the bike leg and the run, but Judith Corachan Vaquera was faster in the last third of the marathon. Fellow Belgian Alexandra Tondeur took third place. Final times were 10:54:07 for Corachan Vaquera, 11:00:30 for Tine, and 11:05:57 for Tondeur.   The Embrunman has rightfully earned its reputation of toughness. In addition to the regular 3.8 km swim, there is the 187-km bike leg with 4500 meters of climbing (including the Col d’Izoard with an altitude of 2360

Tine forced to abandon Ironman 70.3 Barcelona

19 May 2019|News|

19/5/2019: Tine was forced to retire from today’s Ironman 70.3 Barcelona. A tough training week left Tine with an empty tank for the race. That became clear immediately during the swim. Tine came out of the water in 9thposition with a deficit of more than 4 minutes. The bike leg brought no good news as Tine struggled and lost more time. This left Tine with the difficult decision – taking into consideration the rest of the season – to not lose more energy in the half marathon.   Fenella Langridge (UK; 4:37:42) won the race. Sara Van De Vel (Belgium;

Tine fifth in Ironman 70.3 Pays d’Aix

12 May 2019|News|

12/5/2019: Tine has finished fifth in today’s Pays d’Aix half Ironman. Her final time was 4:35:34. The race produced an all-British podium with Emma Pallant (4:19:56) as the victor. Nikki Bartlett (4:25:15) beat India Lee (4:25:30) in a sprint for second place.   The first weeks of the season brought a tough, elusive search for that strong racing condition for Tine. With that in mind, Tine said during her pre-race interview, “I always do well in France. I really hope I can find my good bike legs here.” But first there was the swim, which Tine executed reasonably well. Unfortunately,

It soon became clear that a strong swim was not in the cards for Tine. She got separated from the group almost immediately, coming out of the water in 11th position, almost five minutes behind fastest

Tine 11th in season opener Challenge Salou

7 April 2019|News|

7/4/2019: Tine’s 2019 season officially got underway with an 11th place in today’s Challenge Salou. She finished the half distance race with a time of 4:32:01. Judith Corachán Vaquera (Spain; 4:16:58) took the Salou title. Daniela Bleymehl (Switzerland; 4:18:38) and Emma Pallant (UK; 4:20:04) completed the podium.   That first race after a long winter break is hard, really hard. Or as Tine said at the start of the half marathon: "This hurts!" At that time, she had already completed a 1.9 km swim and 90 km of cycling. A choppy sea made for a difficult swim that made it

Tine 21st in Ironman Hawaii

13 October 2018|News|

13/10/2018: Tine has finished 21st in the 2018 Ironman Hawaii. With a final time of 9:17:21, Tine broke her personal record in the Ironman World Championship. Unfortunately, in a superfast edition, that was not enough for the top-10 finish Tine had aimed for. Still, Tine was pleased: “I raced faster than I had planned and hoped for. I was outstanding in the water and on the bike. I did everything I could have. The women in front of me were simply faster.” Tine went to Hawaii feeling good in the water. On race day, her swim did not disappoint. She

Tine fifth in shortened Ironman 70.3 Zell am See

26 August 2018|News|

26/8/2018: Tine has finished fifth in today’s Ironman 70.3 Zell am See. It was Tine's last race before the World Championship Ironman in Hawaii. Unfortunately, snow on the bike course shortened the race to a swim/run. This meant Tine knew in advance that her result would not be representative of her overall strength. She chose to participate anyway to get the swim and run training in for Kona. In that respect, her performance today was particularly promising.   Laura Philipp from Germany won the race in a time of 1:47:03, beating out Barbara Riveros (Chile 1:48:53) and Alexandra Tondeur (Belgium;

19 August 2018|News|

19/8/2018: It’s a silver medal for Tine in the 2018 Ironman 70.3 Dún Laoghaire! With a final time of 4:49:31, Tine finished less than 90 seconds behind Emma Pallant (UK; 4:48:02). Amber Ferreira (USA) completed the top-3 with a time of 5:04:01.   Dún Laoghaire was Tine’s first race after injuring her shoulder in June, coming down “De Muur” in Challenge Geraardsbergen. Questions lingered. Had her shoulder healed completely? Would she hold back in the bike course descents? The swim brought the first bit of good news: no problems with the shoulder. Putting in a decent swim, she came out
