Facts & figures

  • Tine started doing triathlon in 2005; she turned pro in 2008
  • Ironman races take place all year across the globe
  • The Ironman World Championship in Hawaii is the biggest and most famous triathlon in the world. The Kona Pro Ranking determines qualification for the race. Only the best 35 female pros get to race Kona.
  • Since turning pro, Tine has qualified every year for Kona (except for the year she gave birth). She has participated 6 times.
  • Tine does about 7 big races per year;  2 or 3 of which complete Ironman races
  • Preparation for a full Ironman takes about 3 months
  • Tine trains 15 to 30 hours a week (swimming: 15-25 km; riding: 200-600 km; running: 35-80 km)
  • Tine continued training until the very last day of her pregnancy
  • 6 weeks after giving birth in 2013, Tine started training again
  • 9 weeks after giving birth, Tine completed the Hannibal Mountain Challenge (2.300 km through 8 Alpine countries, 13 stages, 24 cols, 40,000 high-altitude meters)
  • When Finn was 4 months old, Tine competed in her first race in Lanzarote (70.3 – 4th place finish and fastest bike split)
  • 2 months later, she competed in her first post-Finn full Ironman in Cozumel, Mexico
